New Exhibits at Alf Engen Ski Museum in Park City

The  Alf Engen Ski Museum in Park City, UT has finished setting up new exhibits. The exhibit highlights Alf Engen and five other famous Utah skiers. The museum also has a fun sports simulator as well as plenty of other interesting things to see about Utah's winter sport history. Read a more in depth article about the new exhibits here . How Utah's Peaks and Mountains got their Names

The Utah Ski Season is almost here! Very soon, people will be flocking to the slopes to take advantage of the greatest snow on earth. Whether you'll be skiing in Park City, Alta, or any other Utah ski area, you want to be informed about Utah's mountains and peaks. For example, how did they get their names? This post will help answer that questions for some of Utah's most famous peaks. Mount Timpanogos  - According to the  National Park Service , "Digging deeper into the derivation of Timpanogos, it is believed that the name was in reference to the Timpanogots Ute Tribe and translates as rock (tumpi-), and water mouth or canyon (panogos)." Mount Olympus  - Named after the  Mount Olympus in Greece,  home of the Gods. Some say that the Utah mountain appears much like the Greek mountain. What do you think? Salt Lake City One of Two Finalists for Future Winter Olympics Bid

It has been widely reported this week that the Reno-Tahoe area has withdrawn their potential Winter Olympics bid, leaving just Salt Lake City and Denver as the United States' chosen city to use to bid for the 2030 games. Salt Lake City hosted the Olympics in 2002. While some renovation would surely be needed, the fact that the majority of the facilities are still in place is very promising. The facilities are located across the Wasatch Front and in Park City, UT . Yesterday, U.S. Olympic officials toured many of the facilities. They will likely decide between Salt Lake City and Denver within the next few weeks. Read more here and here .
